Authentication Programme
As of the 2014-15 season, starting from the first match of the US Tour 2014, Roma’s 1-0 win over Liverpool in Boston on July 23, 2014, all matchday shirts prepared for the first-team squad for competitive and friendly matches are authenticated by the club via an internal label bearing the AS Roma badge, a unique serial number and the words ‘Matchday Authenticated’.
The Authentication Programme was started for two reasons. Firstly, to identify the shirts worn by or prepared for first-team players, and secondly to distinguish them from counterfeit shirts, which are particularly common online. All shirts without an authentication label or valid serial number-player combination, which can only be approved by AS Roma, should therefore be considered shirts not prepared for competitive or friendly matches and, as a result, never actually worn by the first-team squad.
To help answer some of the most common questions relating to the AS Roma Authentication Programme, we’ve created a Frequently Asked Questions page which you can find on this website. AS Roma has also created a special email address, authentication@asroma.it for fans and collectors with other queries not satisfied by the FAQs. For practical reasons, it won’t be possible for the club to respond to questions already answers on the FAQs page.
